Oracle SQL Tuning
For optimum performance, a database should be regularly tuned.  This is a broad and somewhat complex topic area when it comes to Oracle databases.

Two of the biggest questions faced by your average DBA concern where to start and what to do. All you may know is that a user reports a problem about a slow or poor performing application or query. Where do you even begin to start when faced with this situation?

If you are experiencing current performance bottlenecks or designing a new application and want to know how best to structure your schema and index strategy for optimal performance, then Professional Training have the skills and experience to assist.   On our courses, you will get expert insight and learn best practices to help you identify those areas of database and application design that will give you the greatest benefits for performance.

We can provide focused consultancy or training.  Click here or contact us for more details on this and our other Oracle courses or Consulting.

Leading and Managing - The Bottom Line
The need for high quality managers is intensifying as 'flatter' organisation structures and self-directed teams mean that the actual number of managers needed is decreasing. However, the need for quality managers, people who can manage themselves and others in a high stress environment, is increasing.

Successful management requires specific skills, in addition to knowledge of key business practices.   However you define your role - manager, leader, communicator, motivator - no matter what managerial 'hat' you are wearing, the focus must always be on improving the bottom line while achieving the best results.  Front-line managers in any corporate or government organisation in Ireland today face a difficult, ever-changing environment.  Standard textbook approaches simply will not achieve what's required and multi-disciplinary skills are vital.

This new course acknowledges the difficulties facing managers in Ireland and assists participants in improving their skills for the realities faced daily. We do not offer abstract academic concepts and lecture experienced managers on how to apply them. The content is based on real-world experience and is guaranteed to engage participan
ts and provide them with the tools to bring them to the next level in management.

On average, we use less than 4% of the capacity of our minds. What can we do about that missing 96%?  If we use only 1% more of our brainpower, we'll be 25% more effective.
